If the title alone doesn’t give you anxiety, the first ten minutes definitely will. Produced by the Duffer Brothers (the geniuses behind Stranger Things), this new 8-episode limited series is exactly the kind of gritty, “end of the world” psychological thriller we’ve been waiting for.
The Plot: We follow Rachel (Camila Morrone) and Nicky (Adam DiMarco) as they head to a secluded, snowy cabin for their intimate wedding. Rachel is already battling a massive sense of dread—and no, it’s not just cold feet.
It turns out her family carries a literal occult curse: if she doesn’t marry her true soulmate by sundown on her wedding day, she bleeds to death. And if she doesn’t marry at all? The curse spreads to her fiancé’s entire family. Talk about pressure from the in-laws!
Why It Works
This isn’t your typical “jump scare” horror. It’s a slow-burn nightmare that feels like Ready or Not mixed with a dark, David Lynch fever dream. It’s a “found family” story where you can’t trust anyone, and the snowy, isolated setting makes you feel just as trapped as Rachel.

👩‍🍳 The Mom Verdict: Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen
🍷 The Wine Pairing: Espresso (You need to stay sharp to track the family secrets and the occult lore).
🧺 The Laundry Score: Low. Put the basket down. Between the disorienting camera angles and the hidden clues, you cannot look away.
🤫 The “Kid Factor”: Headphones Only. It’s TV-MA for a reason—lots of psychological tension and some pretty gruesome “bleeding” scenes.
📺 Binge-Ability: 5/5. You’ll want to watch all 8 episodes in one sitting just to find out if Nicky is actually “The One.”
The Couch Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 Couches)
📺 Where to Watch “Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen
